The Fortune Teller’s Mah jongg cards

Life has been so hectic over the past few months, that I haven’t had a chance to seriously get to know the wonderful Mah Jongg cards. I thought that I would add them to the rotation of cards that I work with, even if it’s only to draw 3 or 4 cards…

Here’s what I drew:

6-bamboo-watergreen-dragon-commence5-bamboo-lotus30-west

6 Bamboo (Water) – The element of Water signifies communication. This may be in the form of correspondence, or travel. It is also linked with health and healing (good).

Green Dragon – Commence- This card gives the go ahead for any new enterprise. If there are doubts embarking on new schemes, this card is a reassuring sign that one can proceed with confidence. Regarding health, this card expresses confidence in the patient’s recovery. This is an excellent sign for the inauguration of any new enterprise.

5 Bamboo – Lotus – The opening lotus signifies new birth, the mystical symbolism is of a spiritual awakening. Frequently this symbol appears to those who have recently endured a severe loss, financially or otherwise – it is the rebirth, the starting again. There may be unfulfilled ambitions which now have the possibility of being realized. The great Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said, “What may appear to be a calamity often gives rise to fortune.”

For many, the lotus brings the happiest of news, or indicate an opportunity for a new life. It is always a reassuring symbol, with new ideas and inner happiness. Contentment is signified.

30 West- I added a 4th card, which isn’t usually done as they are read in three’s…I just couldn’t resist! lol so I’ll call it a ‘clarifying card’ 🙂 The card West seems to represent the objective, that the querent has to face. This is either another person, like a partner either in business or marriage, or it may represent obstacles.

As a clarifyer I think both apply; it relates to my partner or his daughter, and also to the obstacles we’ve been faced with.

So in summation, I think there are 2 ways I could read this. If it relates to another, and it’s about health; then it’s concerning my step daughter. This might be saying that there is going to be a  recovery, but I think with the Lotus it’s also saying that this will have been a wake-up call to live her life differently. She is a workaholic, stressing to perfection. It has gotten steadily worse over the last few years. So possibly this health matter will be the message she needed, to balance life better.

The other way of taking these cards is to say that there is news coming, and that things are moving forward, and that we will be starting a new chapter in our lives soon.

I hope it is both, frankly.

The Fortune Teller’s Mah Jongg

I have loved these cards for the past decade. I knew a wonderful old English lady in North Yorkshire, who saw Spirit and was extremely clairvoyant; and she used these  144 cards as her focal point to give AMAZING readings! Boy! do I ever miss going to her! lol She was the first to say that I would have a romance and marry the man I eventually did 🙂 against all odds! lol

I finally tracked the deck down this year, but haven’t had any time to get a feel for them. I decided to do a spread of 3 groups of 3 cards, under the heading of Present, Very Near Future, and Future.

Here we go:

present

PRESENT:

  • Water:     The Card 6 Bamboo Water, signifies correspondence or travel. If it refers to travel, it means short hops or frequent journeys….not a major trip. Most likely it is telling me that there will be news soon, or documentation taking front and center.
  • Lotus:     The opening Lotus signifies new birth. On the metaphysical side, it can mean a spiritual awakening, but on a more down to earth level it appears when someone has been through a difficult experience or an uplifting experience. It’s the new chapter, it’s the happiest of news, an opportunity for a new life. It can even refer to the news of a pregnancy or birth. Contentment is at the center of this card.
  • Commence:   The Green Dragon card, this is an excellent sign for the starting of any new enterprise. This is like a green light 🙂 the time is right. This is a reassuring sign that you can proceed with confidence.

This struck me as saying that we would in the next few days get a letter, or an email/fax; or better yet we would have a legal agreement. Whether this is the legal agreement moving forward with good news and the promise of a new start; or there is word from another sector (business or Govt.), we are about to break out of limbo and be able to move forward.

(What a relief that would be after all this time. I look forward to this week!)

very-near-future

Very Near Future:

  • North:  The North card is usually representative of difficulties & obstacles; I guess much like the Mountain card in the Lenormand. It can mean a period of unhappiness or worry. It can also refer to a person in authority – and literally mean a legal representative!! Considering the next 2 cards are positive, I think this is likely the case.
  • Unicorn:  in certain combinations the Unicorn can represent clairvoyance, especially combined with the Blank White card. When no question has been asked, it represents good news. It can also mean the receiving of privileged or inside information! (Combined with the Lawyer, this is looking quite good! lol) The Unicorn also suggests acting quickly on new information..
  • Phoenix: The Phoenix card represents Joy and Splendour. It’s a time of happiness, all is in harmony. There is a joyous event! It is also a sign of great fortune.

Fingers crossed that this means that we get fantastic news from the lawyer, and a settlement is reached. This would definitely mean great happiness and celebration, and it would also mean feasting instead of famine 🙂

future

FUTURE:

  • Entering:  Entering is a wonderful card! it means that some barrier is being lifted. There is a new door opening for me, a new opportunity awaiting. This card can literally mean: “another chance”…
  • Pine:  The Pine card signifies being able to weather the severist storms. It shows determination and success in the face of opposition.
  • Pearl:  And the lovely Pearl card signifies refinement and wealth 🙂 Ahhh, it would nice to feel that way again..The Pearl can mean the aacquirement of honour. It can represent financial gain and success.

If I  were summarising those 3 cards for someone else, I would be very enthusiastic, telling them that circumstances are about to change for them, and that there is literally a “new life” about to appear. After enduring a great deal, it looks as though they are going to receive their just rewards, and have the opportunity to move forward with a happy heart and a full wallet!

I hope this is true for us too! lol

I LOVE THESE CARDS! and believe me when I say they don’t always show such a rosey scenario!

The Fortune Teller’s Mah Jongg cards set with book, can be found at Mandrake Press in the UK. They give great service, and quick international delivery. Lots of goodies on their website 🙂

I did it! I broke down!

I did it! I definitely broke down….I discovered the name of a deck of cards that I’ve been fascinated with for over 10 years, that a little old lady (pro psychic) in the UK uses exclusively for reading her clients. She never knew the name (or maybe didn’t want me to know! lol I’m not so sure now 🙂  )

She gave absolutely phenomenal readings with them, and managed to literally predict that my now husband and I would come together about 2 years before he had a clue! Every year we go back to her in the UK and both have readings, and sure enough her predictions are about 95% accurate.

So I was shocked when I stumbled on a page on the web that finally broke the mystery. The next thing was to research where on earth I could get them from, they’re not too easy to find. I was embroiled in a bidding war for a set of these cards and it’s book, yesterday, but lost. I have just found them at Mandrake Press in the UK online and they were reasonable! They have a wonderful collection of cards and books, check them out….

Oh! I was so excited I forgot to mention what they are! LOL brother! Have any of you heard of the The Fortune Teller’s Mah-Jongg book and card set by Derek Walters? The cards are beautiful, and based on the tiles, but prettier. Just found photos of the book and cards and placed them below:

They cost around 30 CAD with shipping, I splurged! I’ve wanted these for soooo long!

I’m looking forward to showcasing them here on this blog in the near future 🙂
